1. Read every policy. Change anything that does not match how your agency will actually work. The regulator holds you to what your policies say, so a policy you will not follow is worse than none.
2. Fill in the gaps. Search the Word file for square brackets. They mark any detail you left blank.
3. Adopt it. Have your administrator sign and date the manual on the adoption date on the cover, and keep the signed copy.
4. Train your staff. Go through the policies that apply to each job, and keep a record that you did.
5. Put the review date in your calendar. Review the manual by the date on the cover, and whenever we tell you a rule has changed.

1. Read the guide first. Open "How to use your pack" in the Guidance folder. It explains what to send, what to keep ready and what to check.
2. Fill in every prompt. Search each Word file for square brackets and replace every prompt with your own research, figures and decisions. CQC rejects documents that are incomplete.
3. Check every document matches your service. CQC holds you to what your documents say. Keep charges, notice periods, staffing and dates the same across every document.
4. Gather your evidence. Your title register, tenancy or licence agreement, landlord or lender permission, and insurance certificates or valid quotes.
5. Apply to CQC. Upload the documents in the "Send to CQC" folder with your application. Keep the "Keep ready" folder for when an inspector asks.
